HOME / DUBLIN ATTRACTIONS / KILMAINHAM GAOL

    Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol is located on Inchicore Rd in Kilmainham, Dublin 8.

As one of Dublin’s top Tourist Attractions, Kilmainham Gaol is not to be missed.

The Gaol is a shrine to Irish Republicanism. Over the years Irish Nationalists fought for their country’s independence mounting rebellions in 1798, 1803, 1848,1867 and 1916 . Leaders of such rebellions invariably ended their days as prisoners of Kilmainham Gaol.

These include members of the Society of United Irishmen, Young Irelanders ,Fenians and the leaders of the 1916 Ester Rising who were shot here.
